Stealing candy from children?

Random question: Suppose someone’s wife bought Halloween candy for trick-or-treaters and then hid it from her husband. But then that same husband found where his wife hid said candy and helped himself to it. Would he be “taking the candy out of the children’s mouths” as his wife claimed, or helping to prevent childhood obesity as he countered?
